Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of unsweetened applesauce, 1/2 cup of natural peanut butter (make sure it doesn’t contain xylitol, as it can be toxic to dogs), and 2 cups of whole wheat flour. Stir everything together until a dough forms.

Next, lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the dough to a thickness of around 1/4 inch. You can use a bone-shaped cookie cutter or any other fun shape that you prefer to cut out the treats.

I usually just form a ball and press down with bottom of jar. For me its quicker and easier.

Place the treats on a lined baking sheet and bake them for approximately 15-20 minutes, or until they become golden brown and firm to the touch.

Once the treats have cooled down, it’s time for the moment of truth! Offer one of these freshly baked goodies to your pup and watch their tail wag with excitement. These treats can be stored in an airtight container for up to two weeks, but I’m sure they won’t last.

Enjoy the process of making these homemade dog treats, and remember to give your furry friend a little extra love while you’re at it. Happy baking!

Why this is one of our favorite dog treat recipe that I make.

“This is one dog treat recipe that we love to make wherever we go. During the summer, we work in Yellowstone National Park, and in the winter, we live on our Sail Boat in the Caribbean. What we really like about this recipe is that the ingredients can be easily found in most stores, whether we’re in the mountains or on a remote island. By the way, if you’re interested, we also have some award-winning images of our travels, as well as Caribbean wall art and Yellowstone wall art. Feel free to check them out!”
