Puppy’s first day a home

“Puppy’s First Day Necessities”!

A new puppy check list to help you dive into the world of bringing home a puppy.

Welcome to my blog, about your Puppy’s First Day Necessities. And a big warm welcome to all the new puppy parents out there! Today, I want to talk about something near and dear to my heart – the exciting and sometimes overwhelming journey of bringing home a new furry baby. So, without further ado, let start.

Ah, the joy and anticipation of welcoming a new puppy into your home and his first day. It’s a magical time filled with wagging tails, wet kisses, and endless cuddles. But amidst all the excitement, it’s important to make sure you have everything you need to ensure a smooth transition for your little bundle of joy.
Oh! and pictures, don’t forget to take tons of images.  They grow so fast.

But first things first, let’s talk about the “Puppy’s First Day Necessities”!

Potty training

When it comes to potty training, pee pads are an absolute lifesaver. Trust me, you’ll thank me later when accidents are easily contained and cleaned up.  But you can pick them up at any Walmart, grocery store or department store.

leash and harness

Now, let’s not forget about the all-important leash and harness. These are essential for those daily walks and adventures with your pup. Not only will they keep your furry friend safe and under control, but they also provide an opportunity for bonding and exercise. After your Puppy’s First Day and he is use to be in his new home. Introduce him to harness and leash. Do it as soon as possible. Vets recommend waiting until 10-14 days after your puppy’s last vaccination booster – usually at around 14–16 weeks of age – before introducing them to the wonders of local parks, beaches and walking trails. But with your supervision he can learn to walk with leash on within your home.

Puppy’s First Day and Crate for sleeping also house breaking

Next up, we have the crate – a cozy sanctuary for your pup to retreat to when they need some alone time or a good night’s sleep. Make sure to choose a crate that is spacious enough for your growing pup, yet cozy enough to make them feel secure.

A Childs play pen is what  we used a lot! It was bigger than the create and Billy was able to keep toys inside and his bed. Used it as you would a playpen for a child for day use when you cannot have your eyes on him constantly.

Puppy bed

Speaking of comfort, a soft and plush puppy bed is a must. Trust me, your little fur ball will appreciate having a cozy spot to curl up and dream of chasing squirrels.
A small bed to start. One that reminds him of being with a litter of siblings.

Food and water dish

Now to keep your wits about you. Get a food and water dish that cannot be turned up side down or carried around by your new puppy.  You will thank me!

Bathing

Now, let’s talk about Bathing. A good quality shampoo will keep your pup smelling fresh and clean, while a brush will help keep their coat looking shiny and tangle-free.
The best puppy shampoo should also feature a tearless formula – that way, you do not have the worry about the cleanser getting in the puppy’s eyes. Honest Paws 5-n-1 Oatmeal Shampoo is our top pick for the best puppy shampoo because of its 5-in-1 formula made to clean, deodorize, condition, detangle, and moisturize.
Plus, as the best puppy shampoo, it is made with all-natural ingredients in the USA. The bottle is strong and filled adequately to ensure safe transportation.

Nails

And don’t forget those nails! Nail clippers specifically designed for dogs will ensure your pup’s paws stay neat and tidy. Start getting your puppy use to having nails clipped early.
Start by playing with his toes and feet. holding them separating them and even pretend you are cutting his nails.
By clipping his nails often will reduce a whole lot of anxiety in later life

Sleeping toy for anxious pups especially on Puppy’s First Day

And there’s really nothing more heartbreaking than hearing your New family addition  whine and cry from his crate because he just wants to be with you every second of every day.
Great for anxious dogs and pups.  Helps new puppies adjust to leaving his sibling designed to help anxious dogs calm down. We used it primarily at night in Billy’s crate, worked like a charm. He slept the whole night through from the very first night.  We kept his crate right next to our bed.

Toys

Toy, puppies have a real love to chewing and a variety of toy will do the trick. This is essential for both tug of war games and how to play alone time. Toys are more than just a bit of fun for your dog. They stop them from getting bored and causing trouble around your home. The AKC says During a puppy’s period of rapid development, from 2-months-old to 10-months-old, it’s important to give them appropriate puppy toys, and both your puppy’s dog breed and personality can play a role in what puppy toys might become their favorites. This set of toys include some teething ones.  You may have to expand on the selection as you pup starts to teeth more.

Food

Last but certainly not least, let’s talk about nutrition. A high-quality puppy food is essential for your furry friend’s growth and development. Consult with your veterinarian to find the best option for your pup’s specific needs.  Start out using the same as the breeder or kennel you got your pup from. Then gradually change over if you want to.  Don’t subject your new pup to new home, toys environment and food all at once. Read out the different styles of dog food and do research on one that fits your life style.

Comfort, safety, and overall well-being.

Phew! That was quite the list for a Puppy’s first day , wasn’t it? But fear not, my friends. I’m here to help you navigate through this exciting journey of puppy parenthood. Remember, each item on this list is meant to enhance your pup’s comfort, safety, and overall well-being. Also to make your job a little bit easier.
So, to all the new puppy parents out there, I want to extend my warmest congratulations and wish you the most incredible journey with your new furry family member. Cherish every moment, embrace the challenges, and most importantly, shower your pup with love and affection. Don’t forget the pictures.
